Alex Trebek passed away today. He was a cheerful spirit who brightened the lives of many people. I enjoyed watching him on tv. In his honor I will share some facts from his Wikipedia page.

Alex Trebek was born in 1940. He lived until age 80. He was Canadien and spoke French and English. He got his first job at age 13, when he worked at the same hotel his father was a chef at. He graduated with a degree in philosophy from the University of Ottawa at age 21.

Alex moved to the U.S. in 1973 to host NBC's Wizard of Odds. He began hosting Jeopardy in 1984. He was the first and only Jeopardy host.

Jeopardy was created by Merv Griffin and hosted by Alex Trebek for all 36 years. Jeopardy has won 39 Daytime Emmy Awards.

Daytime Emmy Awards are given to daytime television shows. They are awarded by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. This is the same academy who does the regular emmys. It was known as the National Television Academy until 2007.
